What We Have Done?
Growth and Rehabilitation Opportunities for Women (GROW) has been operating under the name HRPA – Health and Rehabilitation Programs for Afghanistan 2002 to 2018. HRPA had executed more than hundred and fifty projects in areas such as women rights advocacy, vocational training, providing shelters for human trafficking for girls and boys below the age of 13, agricultural, education and health. Our organization remains dedicated to empowering women through rehabilitation, skills development, and access to essential services. While our name has evolved, our commitment to supporting marginalized communities and fostering sustainable growth remains unchanged.
Vocational Training

This one-year vocational training project was implemented across five districts of Herat Province—Karokh, Gozarah, Injil, Ghorian, and Zendajan—empowering 500 women (100 per district) with tailoring skills. The program provided hands-on training in sewing, embroidery, and garment-making, equipping participants with practical skills to generate income.
At the end of the project, each beneficiary received a Tailoring Services Package, including a sewing machine and all necessary equipment, enabling them to start their own home-based tailoring businesses. This initiative aimed to enhance economic opportunities for women, promote self-sufficiency, and improve livelihoods in underserved communities.
Human Rights & Woman Rights Advocay
This one-year training program was conducted across 15 districts of Herat Province, reaching 15,000 men and women. The project aimed to raise awareness about human rights and women’s rights, promoting gender equality, legal awareness, and community advocacy.
Participants engaged in interactive workshops, discussions, and educational sessions on fundamental human rights principles, legal protections, and the role of advocacy in fostering a just society. The initiative empowered individuals to become active voices for equality and justice, fostering a more informed and rights-conscious community across Herat Province.

Shelter for Human Trafficking

This one-year project provided safe shelter, protection, and rehabilitation services for 100 female survivors of human trafficking and children under 13 in Herat Province. The shelter offered accommodation, medical care, psychological support, and legal assistance, ensuring survivors received comprehensive care in a secure environment.
In addition to protection, the project included life skills training, vocational education, and reintegration support to help beneficiaries rebuild their lives. By the end of the project, survivors were equipped with the resources, skills, and support networks needed to reintegrate into society safely and independently.
The shelter was transferred to the Ministry of Employment and Civil Services in Afghanistan.
Health Awareness for Female
This one-year project aimed to improve health awareness among 1,500 men and women across various districts of Herat Province. The program focused on maternal health, hygiene, nutrition, reproductive health, and disease prevention, empowering participants with essential knowledge to make informed health decisions.
Through community workshops, informational sessions, and distribution of health materials, the project enhanced awareness and encouraged healthier practices. By the end of the project, participants had gained a better understanding of key health issues, leading to improved well-being for women, families, and communities.
